MIAMI BEACH ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT

The Miami Beach Board of Adjustment and Flood Plane Management Board meeting begins at 9:00 a.m.  in the third floor Commission Chambers, City Hall 1700 Convention Center Drive Miami Beach. While the new owners of the Seville Hotel at 2901 Collins are looking for some zoning relief to construct new structures on the property and renovate the hotel, it is the appeal of the Beach Towing decision that grabs our attention, as the next chapter in the towing wars grinds on between Beach and Tremont.  The agenda is available at miamibeachfl.gov/planning

TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING COMMITTEE

TPC meets at 3:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room of the Parking Department 1755 Meridian Avenue Miami Beach.  While we know the issue of the Valet Parking Franchise was booted off the agenda as it gets kicked up to City Commission Wednesday for a quick referral to the City’s Finance and Citywide Projects meeting, you can rest assured the muck will fly when the Port of Miami Tunnel people come and try to explain the 300 extra trucks a day the project will be adding to the congestion, since they have stated they can no longer remove the muck on barges.

DECOBIKE ADVERTISING

The City of Miami Beach Planning Department staff is in holding meetings to obtain community input regarding the proposal for Decobike Advertising, as directed by the Mayor and Commission.6PM. Decobike Kiosk Advertising Proposal/North Beach Community, North Shore Youth Center, 501 72nd Street.

MIAMI BEACH HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD

HPB meets at 9:00 am in the third floor Commission Chambers, City Hall 1700 Convention Center Drive Miami Beach.  Items to note are the Gap at 1001 Lincoln Road wanting to demolish their space and build a new, larger one, H & M, the Swedish-based clothing store going into the old New World Symphony Space at the Lincoln theatre requesting to redo much of the exteriors that have already been green lighted for change, and the National Hotel, wishing to change it’s historic interiors, a new Porte cochere for the front and install an “Airstream trailer” on the pool deck to serve as a summer kitchen.

WEST AVENUE PROJECT DEVELOPMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY (PD&E)

On Tuesday, September 13, the City of Miami Beach is holding a community meeting to present plans for the project to add a new bridge and road over the Collins Canal at West Avenue. The meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Miami Beach Golf Club, 2301 Alton Rd. Public input is encouraged. You can get more information at westavenuebridgeproject.com
