The 30th edition of the Book Fair is on the South Florida horizon and booklovers everywhere are ready to welcome the spectacular yearly event with open arms. Last week two posters were unveiled in the Freedom Tower at the Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus.
Held as part of the launch of MDC’s culture campaign, ACTIVATE: MDCulture and the city’s DWNTWN Arts Days. The unveiling included film screenings, an art exhibition, poems written on the spot by Poem Depot and special musical and theatre performances. The best part of the evening was that it was free and open to the public.
Two artists’ works were viewed by hundreds of guests. Francisco “Max” Capdevila, one of Spain’s most important artists and winner of the 2007 Premio Nacional de Comic, created a poster that illustrated 30 books gently floating over an elusive Don Quixote. The second official poster is dedicated to Generation Genius Days, a component of the Fair that is all about kids and young adults.
