Lara St. John opens the South Florida Symphony Orchestra season playing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. Also on the program is Bruckner: Symphony No. 4 Romantic. Bruckner’s works are vast, of epic design, and on a monumental scale, often entering into the realm of the grandiose and sublime. He himself gave the title Romantic to the 4th Symphony. He meant this not in the modern, emotional sense, but suggesting a medieval story of love and chivalry. The SFSO celebrates its 15th Anniversary with its first performance ever of a Bruckner Symphony.
