Haitian roots music legends Boukman Eksperyans ushered in a musical revolution with their 1991 Grammy-nominated debut album, Voudou Adjae. This major release introduced the world to their worldly high energy sound fusing traditional Haitian and Caribbean rhythms with rock and reggae. The band’s popularity is not only in Haiti or with the Haitian Diaspora. They are one of a few Haitian musical groups who have been recognized on the international scene and the only Haitian Rasin band that has brought popularity to various vodou rhythms outside of Haiti. Following the success of their next album, Kalfou Danjere, received the title of ‘Best Kreyol Album and ‘Best Rara Album’ by the Caribbean Music Awards in 1993. It also placed in the Billboard world music for 19 weeks. Boukman Eksperyans continues to record and tour throughout the world with a message of freedom, rebellion and revolution.
