News: Club Amnesia’s Next Chapter: Story

South Beach nightclub Amnesia will reopen as Story before year’s end, its owners have announced

The new club will open the final week of December, in time to ring in 2013 with a New Year’s Eve party featuring DJ Kaskade.

Story will be the latest name to a club space that, in addition to Amnesia, has formerly been known as Opium Garden and Prive. It is located at 136 Collins Ave. in the South Pointe section of Miami Beach.

The property has long been a bane of existence to area residents, who frequently complained about its noise. A roof was eventually erected on its outdoor space to ensure the club could stay open while complying with the city’s noise ordinance.

Club owner David Grutman and a group of investors assumed control of Amnesia last year and shut it down over the summer to ravamp it. Story will be Grutman’s fourth club in a stable that includes LIV and Arkadia at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach and LIV Sun Life at Dolphins Stadium.

The club’s interior is reported to have been gutted and a multi-million dollar renovation is near completion.
