With less than ten months until Opening Day, 2012, the New Marlins Ballpark is more than 70% complete. The construction progress remains on-time, on-budget and continues to exceed all local employment participation goals.
Current construction highlights include major advancements on the Ballpark’s exterior skin including final stages of the decking operations on the Retractable Roof in preparations for the white roof membrane installation. Metal Panel installation has progressed on the West, Southwest and Northeast quadrants and the Curtainwall installation has progressed on West, South, East and Northeast quadrants, including glazing on the six panels that make up the Operable Wall that overlooks downtown Miami.
“The Marlins are setting a national example of how to build a facility in the middle of an urban neighborhood that is environmentally responsible and sustainable” said John Creighton, Vice President and General Manager of Global WorkPlace Solutions.
I had a chance to view the stadium recently and my only concern is the height of the railings that protect fans. They seemed rather low to me but otherwise this is a great facility. Besides baseball games, plan to attend various other sporting events, concerts and even galas in the near future. Go Marlins.
