Meet the artists and poets at ArtCenter/South Florida’s Pin Up Pop Up Poetry with a Group Reading by Collection of Miami Poets & Artists.
The event features 14 local poets and culminates ArtCenter’s month-long Pin Up Pop Up Poetry, part of the O, Miami poetry festival. Throughout the month of April, ArtCenter has invited local poets to push-pin their poems onto the walls of its common areas. More than 300 poems have been push-pinned onto the walls, featuring original work, drawings, photographs, mementos and other inspirations. The month-long interactive program was created by ArtCenter resident artist Beatricia Sagar. Poets invited to read at the event are from diverse backgrounds with literary styles ranging from spoken word to the professorial, from the published to the non-published, and even a guitar playing scribe. They share a strong passion for the written word and a need to be heard. Poets & artists at the group reading event include: Atlas, Aza, Mary Kate Azcuy, Marcus Blake, Jeffrey Bustos, Gianni Cohen, William Curtis, George Durham, Maha Adachi Earth, Diego Flores, Pierre Max Freesney, Dana Rodriguez, Beatricia Sagar and Chloe Firetto-Toomey.
Last week, ArtCenter concluded its popular impromptu: concert series for the season. Musicians from the New World Symphony gathered once per month at the Richard Shack Gallery for classical music jam-sessions that delighted both locals and tourists. The series will begin again in the fall.
On May 18, ArtCenter collaborates with Next@19th and The Betsy Hotel for the upcoming event Accordion Invasion. Future cultural partnerships planned for late summer include ArtCenter joining forces with the Miami Beach Botanical Garden and the Bass Museum of Art.
