South Beach Group Hotels, the largest independent and privately owned hotel group in South Florida, has announced the opening of its highly anticipated Riviera South Beach Hotel within the heart of the historic Art Deco district of Miami Beach, Florida. The opening establishes a 14th boutique hotel, and the first 4-star property, under the group’s rapidly expanding hospitality business.
Riviera South Beach Hotel is the latest installment by South Beach Group Hotels – renowned for boutique properties including Metropole, Whitelaw Hotel, The Chesterfield, and its flagship property, The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club. The newly opened hotel is a major expansion within the group’s existing property portfolio and introduces a premium brand of deluxe accommodations in the epicenter of Miami Beach. Riviera South Beach Hotel introduces affordable luxury in an ideally located neighborhood that offers seclusion and solitude, just steps away from the excitement of South Beach and cultural landmarks, including The Wolfsonian, Bass Museum, The Miami City Ballet and New World Symphony.
Blending contemporary urban chic with Hollywood Regency, Riviera South Beach Hotel consists of a total of 160 guestrooms and suites, some of which are equipped with chrome balconies overlooking breathtaking views of the ocean. The renowned British-born artist, Bansky, was commissioned to make the hotel’s décor come to life through his signature surrealism and larger-then-life abstract artwork featured on the tiling throughout the property. Guests have access to a stylish rooftop sundeck with loungers, infinity pool and bar, with an additional ground floor pool oasis for total seclusion, offering private cabanas and cushioned beach chairs surrounded by potted plants and palms. Set inside a serene courtyard, Moreno’s Cuba, the hotel’s authentic Cuban restaurant, offers guests traditional Cuban cuisine within a 1950s Havana-like hideaway, a concept developed by the restaurant’s co-proprietor and Latin Grammy award-winning Cuban recording artist, Jorge Moreno.
One-bedroom Suites are stylish apartment-like accommodations, with décor inspired by Dorothy Draper, the influential 20th-century interior designer, known for her lavish aesthetics and Art Deco flamboyance. Guest suites feature a juxtaposition of gold-accented chiffon prints and black-and-white cowhide rugs. Royal blue and majestic gold stripes adorn the walls with floor-to-ceiling silk draperies that flow along espresso hardwood floors. Amenities include full gourmet kitchens complete with stainless steel appliances and granite counter-tops. Each suite features a separate dining room and living area with custom designed wood and ivory tufted leather furniture and a pull out queen sleeper sofa. Oversized bathrooms have separate entrances to both living room and the bedroom that feature 100% organic cotton pillow-top beds. Bathrooms come complete with rainfall showerheads, Terry Cloth bathrobes and C.O. Bigelow bathroom products. Additional in-room amenities include a mini-bar, 42-inch flat-screen television, direct dial telephone with voicemail, stereo with iPod dock, complimentary WiFi Internet access, a private safe and full in-room dining, courtesy of Moreno’s Cuba.
Two penthouse suites, averaging over 700 square-feet, offer one and two bedroom luxury accommodations and are fully equipped for the most discerning traveler – ideal for honeymooners, bachelor parties or for a simple romantic getaway. The two-bedroom penthouse suite is on its own private floor with a rooftop garden and lounge furniture – serving as a perfect celebrity retreat.
Balcony Rooms have an urban-like metropolitan flair, featuring one or two queen size beds that sleep up to four guests. A sliding glass door opens out on to a furnished chrome balcony that faces the ocean and overlooks the effervescent bustle of Miami Beach. A sleek desk, large enough for a laptop or to act as a workspace, comes in every room, along with post-modern leather furniture throughout. Rustic concrete ceilings blend with panoramic silk draperies that accent the polished wooden floors. Stonewashed grays and whites are offset against splashes of decorative yellows that accentuate the bright and airy space. Tempurpedic pillow-top custom beds are dressed in comforters made from 100% organic cotton. Each oversized bathroom comes complete with a rainfall shower, Terry Cloth bathrobes, slippers and C.O. Bigelow bathroom products. Additional guestroom amenities include a mini-bar, 42-inch flat-screen television, direct dial telephone with voicemail, stereo with iPod dock, complimentary WiFi Internet access, a private safe and full in-room dining.
Classic Rooms have a contemporary ambience, within a building that won the city’s 2013 Preservation and Architectural Award of Merit. A white, leather over-sized bed frame houses a Tempurpedic mattress, accompanied by all-white bedding, complete with 300 thread-count sheets and orange accents. An inviting, leather love seat creates a cozy sitting area, complete with an oriental inspired elephant end table. Rooms feature hardwood floors, as well two separate bathroom spaces, equipped with the latest stainless steel utilities. All rooms include the most up-to-date entertainment system; complete with a wall-mounted 42-inch plasma TV and an iPod docking station. Additional guestroom amenities include a mini-bar, direct dial telephone with voicemail, complimentary WiFi Internet access, a private safe and full in-room dining.
Moreno’s Cuba is the hotel’s Cuban-inspired eatery within the hotel’s premises. Created by the hotel’s owner, Nathan Lieberman, and the Latin Grammy award-winning Cuban recording artist, Jorge Moreno, the restaurant’s concept has been developed around an authentic Havana-style café, featuring imported Cuban floor tiles, rustic old-world woods and a relaxing bar, nestled among tropical shrubbery, that specializes in the finest mojitos and Cuban cigars. The culinary ethos for Moreno’s Cuba is based around Cuban Tapas and small plates made for sharing. Traditional Cuban favorites are also available to order, including Sopa de Frijoles Negros, Lechon Asado, Ropa Vieja, Fricase de Pollo, Rabo Encendido and Bistec Palomilla.
